Avison Guitar Trio

Morgan Buckley, Michael Kelly, David Curry

Spanish Dances

The Avison Guitar Trio is a new ensemble, formed with the intention of reimagining masterworks of the classical and twentieth century repertoires.  This concert at J's and B's marks the first in a series across the North East in 2017 comprising trio concerts, programmes alongside the Newcastle Guitar Orchestra and performances with special guests Giulio Tampalini and John Mills.

The title 'Spanish Dances' refers to the suite by Enrique Granados, and to Joaquin Turina's Gypsy Dances.  A unique concert has been curated with music from Austria, the United States and the UK, featuring the first ever guitar trio performances of works by Newcastle composer Charles Avison and American minimalist Philip Glass.
